Within the Vigan City
Fiesta Days the longganisa Festival is also celebrated. The city has a
longganisa theme parade and at one time attempted to set a record for having
the longest longganisa ever made.
Vigan is a popular tourist destination here in Ilocos Sur
because of its museums and architecture. Still, it is also known for its
longganisa which is a local kind of salami. The dish is made in accordance with
a century old tradition and has a truly unique taste.
In late January, the Vigan celebrates City Fiesta and
Longganisa Festival is included in the festival program. It’s celebrated around
January 22-25 the dates vary from year to year. During the festival , every
tourist has a chance to try the longganisa from Vigan.
